How is Europe and North America progressing in Sustainable Consumption and Production?

The Copenhagen Resource Institute along with the Regional Environmental Center (REC) in Hungary and the UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on SCP (CSCP) have attempted to provide answers to this question in the key background paper prepared under commission to UNEP for the UNECE's 4th RIM Preparatory Meeting on Sustainable Consumption and Production on 30th November in Geneva. The meeting brought together experts from the 56 countries of the UNECE area to discuss potential programmes of SCP initiatives which might be included in the UN Commission on Sustainable Developments 10 Year Framework Programme on SCP which begiuns in 2012. The background paper prepared by CRI gives an overview of SCP policy and action adopted and implemented to date in the UNECE region, and makes recommendations for the direction of future policy and initiatives in Europe and North America.
