The Copenhagen Resource Institute has begun a project for the Danish Environmental Protection Agency focused on food waste. This project examines the generation of food waste throughout the production and consumption cycle, primarily in Denmark, but also in other, predominantly European, countries. The project aims to provide an overview of available data on food waste in Danish and foreign studies for the different actors in food chain, and to indicate where the greatest potential is to prevent food waste in Denmark and where further analysis of Danish potentials are necessary. Further, it will describe foreign and Danish actions to prevent food waste and suggest new Danish initiatives. The project will be finished within the first quarter of 2010.
