The CRI and IIIEE held the Nordic Workshop on Sustainable Consumption and Green Lifestyles on 24th and 25th November 2010 in Copenhagen.

The aim of this workshop was to map and demonstrate Nordic strengths and experiences in the area of sustainable consumption and promotion of green life-styles. Some of the questions answered at this workshop were - what is sustainable consumption and green life-styles, who does it involve and what instruments and tools can support the agenda?

Participants included experts from Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark, as well as representatives from the Nordic Council of Ministers and the European Environment Agency.  This wide range of participants brought expertise from public authorities, NGO’s, the retail sector, business organisations and the research community, in order to work together on recommendations for promoting sustainable consumption in the Nordic region and beyond.

In 2010 Denmark has the presidency of the Nordic Council of ministers, and this workshop was part of the Danish sector programme on environment. A report based on the outcomes of the workshop will be published In late December 2010, including proposals for Nordic action and positions in order to influence the EU policy on sustainable consumption and to push sustainable consumption further up the agenda.
